Active Projects

[ADD Research Topic]
Electronic Holmes
This project aims at designing a system that is capable of identifying abnormal or suspicious instances in a complex network (or social network). The potential applications are fraud detection, law enforcement, homeland security, and scientific discovery.
Computational Models for Interestingness
This project focuses on designing and developing a computational model that can automatically identify interesting things from data. This is a very important problem in the area of knowledge discovery and data mining.
Auto-Editing System
We are trying to design a tool that can assist non-native English writer writing English sentences by pointing out the potential flaws and potential corrections of them.
Semantic Analysis for natural Language
The general goal is to allow machines to understand human languages. One important task toward this goal is to figure out a way to represent the meaning of sentences, and learn it automatically. The corresponding problem includes semantic role labeling, word sense disambiguation, and knowledge representation.
